Microsoft Copilot Chat for the Web Guide

What is Copilot?

Microsoft Copilot is a generative AI tool grounded in a chat interface designed to enhance your learning experience and streamline your workflow. Building upon the latest large language models, GPT-4 and DALL-E 3, Copilot can help you generate ideas, draft documents, analyze data, create presentations, and more! Most importantly, Copilot is protected by Penn’s data security agreements with Microsoft. You can take advantage of LLMs safely as long as you log in with your PennO365 account.

How do you log in to Copilot with a Penn Protected Account?

Follow the instructions below to sign in to Copilot for the Web with your PennO365 account:

1. Go to copilot.microsoft.com with your preferred web browser.

2. Click the “Sign in” button on the top right corner of the home page.

3. Sign in with your Penn email.

4. Select “Work” to access via PennO365.

5. You should see the Copilot chat home page.

Two Ways to Check If Your Copilot Session is Protected

1. Click on the green shield icon in the toolbar on the top right of your Copilot chat window. If you see “Enterprise data protection applies to this chat,” your session is under protection.

2. Click on your account profile in the top right corner of your Copilot chat window. If you see “PennO365” under your account, your session is protected by Penn.

If neither shows up, please follow the instructions above to log in with your PennO365 account again.

If you fail to log in through PennO365 after repeated tries, contact GSE IT.
