Account Migration Procedures
You can merge a Personal ChatGPT associated with your pennkey@upenn.edu address. However, it is an irreversible process. Once your account is merged, it cannot be undone.
If you have an existing ChatGPT account with your Penn email:
During first login, choose one option:
- Merge existing content (chats and GPTs) into Enterprise account, OR
- Export data, save as an archive to your computer, and start fresh
Important notes:
- Merger decision is permanent
- Declining both options forfeits the Enterprise license
- Contact GSE-IT immediately if declining to avoid charges
For Personal Account Users (non-Penn email)
There is no automatic migration path available. See OpenAI’s complete documentation.
To export content from a personal account:
- Log into personal ChatGPT account
- Export conversations as JSON file
- Log into Penn Enterprise account
- Import saved conversations
