Can I keep my Penn student email during the Leave of Absence?

This document is intended for GSE students who are (or will be) taking a Leave of Absence.


The short answer is: Yes.

In order to keep your email, you'll need an "active" affiliation with the University. Taking a Leave of Absence automatically "deactivates" your affiliation by a University system. In order to prevent your Outlook email from expiring, please follow the below steps:

  1. Please open a support ticket with GSE IT and let us know your plan (When you'll leave and return).
  2. Once your Leave is confirmed with the Student Records Office, we'll proceed with the affiliation adjustment process.
